Spring Baby!

I totally exploited the fact that my preacher's wife was pregnant, because it gave me an opportunity to make baby stuff! I wanted to make something that was appropriate for the upcoming warm weather, so a sweater and socks wouldn't do and I could just imagine the church ladies handing her a blanket from each of them, I had to come up with something different.
Washcloths, obviously the little gnomey hat for newborn pics, and this amazing dress!

As the second piece of real clothing, with the baby sweater being my first, I was a little concerned. Not so much about the pattern itself, but moreso the construction which turned out to be amazingly easy. The detail in the skirt alone had my heart when it was finished. With or without a onsie underneath, this dress is perfect for warmer weather and not your typical layette knitting.

Ilove the idea of being a part of a major milestone in a newborns life, atleast a photographic milestone. These newborn photos that are all over, especially advertising for photographers, are the sweetest. These unimaginably tiny little people wearing Viking hats, gnome hats, grown up Winter hats while they lay there looking so angelic, I just had to find a recipe to make some of these. This one is a bit different than my first attempt, rather than using Super Bulky yarn I tried it double stranded with the same yarn from the dress, just because it was so soft. I also chose to have the long tail at the top, rather than one on each side, it was my first i-cord!

Finding Spring worthy knits was easier than I thought. There's a couple other baby girls on the way this year so I found lots of precious washcloths, 'embossed' with designs or just patterned for cuteness.

Starting from the top left going clockwise, you see a little Garden Girl, Tilework, Footprints- oh my gosh, so cute!- and raindrops, perfect for bathing if I do say so myself. There are so many more to come, these were all I could manage before the clock ran out and the baby these were intended for arrived.
It's amazing how good it can make you feel inside when you can create something beautiful or adorable, and it feels even better when you can share that something with others without expecting anything in return.
