Oh Baby!

My youngest sons teacher from last year gave me an opportunity to finally do something I've been wanting, no yearning to do for a long time. I got to make teeny, tiny baby stuff! It took some searching to settle on exactly what I wanted to make that would align with the materials I had on hand. Now, me being me, I couldn't be happy with just some little boggins or booties, so my very first attempt at real clothing took shape in this adorable, grannyish sweater.

The little socks were a breeze after my previous experience with 'man' size socks and the pom-poms were a little addition to hide the buttons underneath. The pattern was very basic and the build was easier than I expected. I can't say that I've enjoyed knitting anything else so much before and was so tickled to see the finished product. I began this project just before Thanksgiving and a week later phoned the school only to discover she had already had the baby ON Thanksgiving! In addition to the sweet sweater set, there were two (very different) hats.

The Spiral hat was gorgeous to me, wish it were my size. Her first little Winter Wonderland hat! And my little penguin model here, was the perfect size to try out Baby's first gnome hat. You know the newborn gnome hat pics are the up and coming trend these days and I had just the right amount of leftover yarn in my stash to make both of these, easy. I am at the edge of my seat hoping the Thomas family will send me some pictures one day of their first little angel wearing her new, heirloom handmade attire and accessories. But of course, no pressure or anything....
