Sweet Southern 15 for Lakin

This year is probably the last year that I will get to give little Miss grown pants a birthday party and since we haven't made it to her Sweet 16 yet, I decided to go big for her 15th. Unfortunately, it poured rain and most of my plans were washed out. At this point in time, she was right at the end of her interest in Browning, hunting, Redneck things so that was the best theme I could come up with.

These Browning Toosie Roll cupcakes will forever be one of my favorites. This picture is one of my favs too. The amazing world wide web brought forth a recipe for chocolate cupcakes with a fudge icing that tastes just like a tootsie roll, nice and thick. I topped these with chocolate Browning shapes, piped onto wax paper. See the little flowers in the corner? I was planning this party for 6 months in advance and created these magazine page roses early on, along with the tissue paper flowers that were intended for the garland that would've hung from the canopy that collapsed under that blessed rain. These, just like everything I do, were experimental and quite versatile.The Browning wall decor was a fun project a couple of the boys and I did together. After covering cardboard cutouts of the deer symbol with an old pair of green work jeans, we used leaves and straw to 'paint' camoflauge all over.

The only planning that really got executed was the food, the tree stump cake plate (adorned with those pretty paper roses), and one of the three sides to the photo booth that was supposed to be set up. Redneck mugshots! Oh it was fun and cute and the signs were some pretty funny ones, along with lots of props like mustaches, gross teeth, and blazers with the sleeves cut off.

I was probably the most disappointed in the lack of 'party' that I had planned on going all out for, but hopefully (for a teenage girl) her and her friends enjoyed the home-cooked pulled pork, sugar cookies, and glow stick pool time. I love that girl and it's crazy to see them growing so dang fast, no more birthday parties? What!?
